Push the lid up and backwards

The lid will begin to move upwards when the levers are
released

Open the lid fully backwards to expose the internal scan
area

Locate the white background

The white plastic background strip is a consumable item and
forms part of the scanner lid. The background is sprung into
place and must be squeezed at one end in order to remove it.

Tap the white background. You will feel that it moves freely
inside the scanner lid
