About scanner maintenance

Regular scanner maintenance will keep the scanner working properly.
There are three basic maintenance tasks:
Cleaning the scanner
How often you need to clean the scanner will depend on how much it is
used and the condition of the media. Newspapers and old blueprints
will make a scanner dirty much faster than new brochures and CAD
plots. Be sure to clean the scanner when you notice a reduction in the
quality of the images. Particles of dust in the scan area will show up as
streaks in the image.
Calibration and camera alignment
Calibration sets the camera alignment and black and white levels and
is carried out using the calibration sheet. IMPORTANT: Make sure the
scanner is clean before calibrating.
Replacing worn parts
This should be carried out if you see a warning on the screen or a worn
part affects the image quality e.g. lines in the image from a badly
scratched glass. User replaceable parts (consumable parts) are:
the glass plate assembly
the white background
