PurCon IS Introduction Introduction General information PurCon IS sample preparation prepares the sample for the analysis of component substances with analyzers. PurCon IS uses the most mod- ern technologies that enable largely maintenance-free and long-term operation. In comparison to conventional sample preparations, the maintenance costs of the PurCon IS are low.
Introduction PurCon IS Structure and function PurCon IS consists of the following main components: Filter unit Control unit 1.2.1 Filter unit Fig. 1-1 Filter unit Framework Filter Air shower Permeate suction pipeline Suction tube ba43133e06 05/2009...

Operation PurCon IS Starting sample preparation Start checklist Before switching on PurCon IS, check the following points: Are the control unit and membrane box correctly connected with one another? Are all the tubes correctly connected? Are all the hose clamps used firmly tightened? Are all the tension arms of the permeate pump under tension? Switching on the To start sample preparation, carry out the following steps:...
PurCon IS Operation Taking out of operation CAUTION If PurCon IS is taken out of operation for longer than one week, the filters must be cleaned according to 5.1 C SECTION LEANING THE FIL TER UNIT For putting the instrument out of operation for short periods, take the filter unit out of the sample and rinse with clear water.
PurCon IS Maintenance Maintenance In comparison to conventional sample preparations, few maintenance activities are required. They are limited to the following activities: Cleaning the filter unit (section 5.1) Displacing the pump tubings (section 5.2) Replacing the pump tubings (section 5.3) Cleaning the air filter of the compressor (section 5.4).
Maintenance PurCon IS Cleaning the filter unit CAUTION Cleaning may only be carried out by maintenance personnel who have been trained to deal with corrosive substances. The filter is cleaned chemically by the effect of 1 % sodium hypochlorite solution. The cleaning solution can be produced from various cleaning agent concentrates by dilution.

Maintenance PurCon IS 5.1.2 Cleaning the filter unit For cleaning, the filters are immersed in a container with 1 % sodium hypochlorite solution as the cleaning solution. The quantity of cleaning solution required depends on the size of the container used. The filters must be completely submerged.
Page 33
PurCon IS Maintenance Cleaning the filter unit To clean the filters, carry out the following steps: CAUTION The filter surface is mechanically sensitive. Do not use any hard objects for cleaning the filters. Do not direct any strong jets of wa- ter onto the filter surface.
Maintenance PurCon IS Displacing the pump tubings The displacement of the pump tubings is necessary to prevent the mechanical wear of the pump tubings becoming too great. If this activity is carried out regularly, the lifetime of the pump tubings may exceed 6 months.
