Many of your SmartFade playback commands can be recorded into a third-party MIDI
playback device and may be played back as if they were music MIDI. This allows you to
build a timed playback including fade times. A SmartFade set to master MIDI mode can be
used to create MIDI information that can be recorded by a MIDI sequencer. A SmartFade
set to MIDI slave mode, will respond to MIDI sent by a sequencer. For more information
consult the manual for your MIDI sequencer/playback device.
You must be sure to set your SmartFade to whatever MIDI channel (1 through 16) you
output from your playback device. By the same token, you must also set any slaved
consoles down the MIDI line to the same MIDI channel as well. Setting the MIDI Channel
(see
Normal Mode LCD Menu, page
38) defines both the MIDI input channel (to which your
SmartFade responds) as well as the MIDI output channel (on which your SmartFade sends
data). You cannot set the two ports (In and Out) to different MIDI channels.
