in the front of the driving bevel housing thus preventing any forward motion

Suspension. T h e suspension of th'e chassis can be clearly understood

is examined. T h e r e are n o shackles in the ordinary sense

of the word.
Instead, houever, the rear e n d of the front and rear springs
slidce in phosphor bronze trunnions in the spring anchorages. T h e front end
of both front and rear springs a r e pivotted u p o n fixed points. As a spring
compresses o r expands d u e to load o r riding over inequalities, the rear end
af
the springs slide to and fro. T h e main leaf of the spring is accommodated in
phosphor bronze blocks capable of rotating in their housings. T h e manner
in which this is effected is shown in Illustration N o .

tubular frame cross member with the phosphor bronze slotted bushes in
position. These are held in place by a distance piece and the whole assembly
locked up by a large nut. A greaser nipple is provided which screws into the
distance pimecme and finally the whole assembly is enclosed by m'eans of a
moulded rubber cover as seen in the illustration.
T h e bronze bushes a r e
capable of rotating inside the tube and the spring is also capable of end
movement in the slots of the bushes.
