It is always possible to increase the a m o u n t of the advance h)
slackening the nut referred to arid rotating the distributor slightly and then
tightening the nut, hut ns i t is set when it leaves the W o r k s is best for all
round running.
In o r d e r to obtain a correct idea of how the oil p u m p and the Distributor
are r,elated to o n e another, both thes,e components are shown in Illustration
N o .

after having been removed from the engine. T h e crankshaft drives
the oil p u m p . T h e r e is a slot in the extension to the oil p u m p driving gear
wheel which receives a tongue attached to the spindl'e driving the High
Tension Distributor. It follows therefore that if t h e Distributor is rernovfed
at any time it can only b e p u t back in two ways, o n e of which is right. T h i s
can b e tested by t h e position of the dynamo coupling in relation to top dead
centre of N o .

front end extension of the crankshaft is fitted with two ge:lrs, a helical bevel
and a worm. T h e helical bevel drives the dynamo, and her,e again we find
the necessity for correctly meshing gears.
