T h e r e a r e three small items which really only concern the R e p a i r S h o p .
T h e y relate to t h e removal of t h e gear wheels f r o m the crankshaft a n d the
front end housing of the base chamber. A f t e r the d y n a m o has b,een removed
it is possible to withdraw t h e w o r m driv,e from the crankshaft by tapping it
with a suitably soft tool such as a piece of brass through the d y n a m o housing.

W e then see in Illustration N o . 26 t h e front e n d of the crankshaft aft'er
the front end housing has been removed and th,e manner in which t h e shaft
is supported in a ball bearing. T h i s illustration also shows the two keys o n
the crankshaft o n t o which t h e two gear wheels fit.
O n looking a t t h e front e n d housing can also b e seen the front bearing,
which is
a
ball race specially designed to carry loads both in radial and thrust
direction, and c a n b e removed from the housing after taking o u t the f o u r
fixing screws shown in Illustration N o . 26.
T h e rear main is o f a different type, being a circular b r o n z e bearing white
metal lined. I n this bearing runs the fl,-wheel
