rontrolled by the adjusting screws carried in the withdrawal arms, which can
be clearly seen in Illustration N o .

the withdrawal arms forward, and in turn these force the adjusting screws
against the plungers

which in turn force the clutch pressure plate
towards the flywh'eel, thus compressing the clutch springs.
It will b e seen
that the pressure and cover plates a r e fitted with F e r o d o discs o r plates which
are riveted in position.
It is essential that the aluminium rivets b e well

T h e action of the clutch thus having b,een described, it simply remains
to show how adjustment is effected, and the reason for the three small clips
shown in Illustration N o .
36.
T h e clips are only intended t o prevent t h e
clutch withdrawal arms going t o o far back, o r floating outwards against the
withdrawal collar.
It is also necessary to limit the travel of the clutch pedal
so as t o avoid the clutch being pushed o u t t o o far.
As the clutch gradually
wears, the thickness of the friction rings will decrease, which will cause the
floating plate to c o m e nearer to the clutch cover plates.
