I am using a totally standard USB to USB-C wire connector but the infotainment system does not seem to recognise my pretty new A14 Samsung Galaxy phone when I try to activate Android Auto. Any ideas?

The MG4 infotainment system is not recognizing the Samsung Galaxy A14 phone when using a USB to USB-C cable for Android Auto because the MG4 only supports Android Auto through the USB-A port. The USB-C port in the MG4 is only for charging and does not support data transfer for Android Auto. Additionally, using a low-quality or non-genuine cable may prevent the device from connecting properly.

How can I get the charging port open with the car dead and even opening the doors manually did not release the charging port door?

If the MG MG4 is dead and the manual door release does not work, you can try the emergency release cable for the charging port. Be aware that it may require a very hard pull to activate. If that fails, you can attempt to jump start the car using a donor vehicle to restore power, which should allow normal unlocking of the charging port.

The car is completely dead. Opened doors manually, but I cannot open the charging port in order to charge the car.

To open the charging port on an MG MG4 when the car is completely dead, you must first restore power to the 12V battery. The charging port cover will not open if the central locking system is engaged, which requires 12V power. You can try jump-starting the 12V battery using a donor vehicle. Once the 12V system is powered and the central locking is disengaged, you can press on the charging port cover to open it.
