If one interface operates at 100 Mbps while the other operates at 10 Mbps, a fault occurs. No
connection can be set up at the party operating at 100 Mbps. Although a connection can be set
up at the party operating at 10 Mbps, the ACTIVE LED keeps blinking fast and data cannot be
transmitted normally.
Solution
The default interface speed and duplex mode of FE and GE electrical interfaces are auto-
negotiation. You can forcibly change the interface speed and duplex mode to the same as
those of the peer end.

Troubleshooting Interface Cards, Cables and Connections

Symptom
After the HIM/MIM is installed and the router is powered on, the LED on the HIM/MIM panel
indicates abnormal operation.
Solution
Check that:
The HIM/MIM cable was correctly selected.
The HIM/MIM cable is correctly connected.
The interface has been correctly configured and is working normally (use the
display command).

Troubleshooting Application Upgrade

Response Failure of the RPE-X1 Serial Port
Symptom
The RPE-X1 serial port gives no response.
Solution
Check that the cable is in good condition and the serial port settings are correct (bits per
second is 9600 bps).

in Chapter 6 "Maintaining Software".

Troubleshooting TFTP Upgrading

Symptom
During router application program upgrade through TFTP, the following problems are
encountered:
