The device supports hot-swapping of HIMs.
When installing a HIM, use proper force and keep the HIM in the vertical position to avoid
damage to components on the card.
The configurations (if any) made on a HIM before you remove the FIP will not be automatically
restored upon reinsertion after you restart the FIP. To keep the configurations, make sure that
the HIM is in position before you restart or reinsert the FIP.
Removing a HIM
Be sure to run the remove slot slot-number subslot subslot-number command before
removing a HIM while the router is operating.
If you have run this command but do not want to remove the HIM, you can use the undo
remove slot command to cancel the operation.
It is unnecessary to run the undo remove slot command after you remove a HIM and insert it
again.
Follow these steps to remove a HIM:
Step1
Face the front panel of the router.
Step2
Locate the HIM to be removed.
Step3
Loosen the two captive screws on the HIM counterclockwise with a flat-blade screwdriver until
all spring pressure is released.
