Sonar Bottom Presentation
As the boat moves, the unit charts the changes in depth on the display to create a profile of the
Bottom Contour. The type of bottom can be determined from the return charted on the display.
A Hard Bottom such as compacted sediment or flat rock appears as a thinner line across the
display. A Soft Bottom such as mud or sand appears as a thicker line across the display. Rocky
Bottoms have a broken, random appearance.
NOTE: A sloping bottom will be represented as a thicker line across the display. Harder bottoms
typically will be displayed with red and softer bottoms typically will be displayed with blue.
The sonar returns from the bottom, structure, and fish can be represented as Structure ID® or
WhiteLine™. See Sonar Menu: Bottom View to set the Bottom View.
Structure ID® represents weak returns in blue and strong returns in red.

To record sonar readings on an SD card using the Humminbird 1158c Combo, follow these steps:
1. Install an SD Memory Card: Ensure that an optional-purchase SD memory card is installed in the slot of the device.
2. Access the Main Menu: Press the MENU key twice to open the Main Menu.
3. Navigate to the Navigation Tab: Use the RIGHT Cursor key to select the Navigation tab.
4. Export Navigation Data: Highlight "Export All Nav Data" and press the RIGHT Cursor key. A confirmation dialog box will appear.
5. Confirm Export: Press the RIGHT Cursor key again to confirm the export. If you want to cancel the export, press the LEFT Cursor key.
