ETHERNET (Ethernet Activity)
When EA is shown by the alphanumeric display, the row of ten LEDs gives Ethernet information
as follows:
"Serial"
"Twisted Pair"LG:
"Receive"
"Transmit"
Page 70 Ÿ PortServer Terminal Server
TD:
Data has been transmitted on any of the 8 or 16
serial lines.
RD:
Data has been received on any of the 8 or 16
serial lines.
Line Good. (Indicates a good connection to the
twisted pair hub box.)
POL:
Polarity is backwards; while the PortServer
hardware fixes this, it indicates that the twisted
pair wiring has been installed with the wires
transposed.
CS:
Carrier Sense; blinks when the PortServer
hardware senses the Ethernet carrier.
RX:
Blinks when a packet is destined for the
PortServer box.
ERR:
Network error on packet received (CRC,
Frame, FIFO overrun, etc.).
OVF:
Overflow; set when packets come faster than
the PortServer hardware can process them.
TX:
The PortServer hardware is transmitting a
COL:
packet.
Collision on Network (any collision—not
necessarily on packets destined to or originated
by the PortServer devices).
