Overview of J1939 Communication over CAN

The CAN J1939 All-in-One Type is compatible with CAN communication based on SAE J1939. The CAN J1939 All-in-One Type can
communicate with other J1939 communication-compatible devices by connecting the CAN port to a J1939 communication
network. For details on J1939 communication, refer to the SAE J1939 standard.
SAE J1939 Overview
J1939 Communication Network
A J1939 communication network is composed of ECUs (engine, brake, etc.) and NIECUs (repeaters, routers, etc.), and each ECU
has one or more CAs. A CA is assigned an address between 0 and 253 and a unique 64-bit ID (NAME), and messages can be
exchanged between CAs using the addresses.
