Motherboard Connections
This section describes the connections on the motherboard and provides pinout definitions.
Note that depending on how the system is configured, not all connections are required. The
LEDs on the motherboard are also described. A motherboard layout indicating component
locations may be found in Chapter 1.
Please review the safety precautions in Appendix B before installing or removing components.

4.1 Power Connections

Two 8-pin 12V power supply connectors (JPW1/JPW2) and an 8-pin 12V/12V standby power
connector (JPW3-STBY) are located on the motherboard. In addition, a 4-pin power connector,
located at JPW_HDD, provides 5V and 12V power to the onboard HDD devices. These power
connectors meet the SSI EPS specifications and must be connected to your power supply to
provide adequate power to the system.

Power Distribution Board
A power distribution board header is located at JPSB on the motherboard. Install a Supermicro
power distribution board (part number: PDB-PT946-S386) on this header to maximize power
efficiency and enhance power management. See the layout below for the location.
