Set the switch to DTE when connecting to the serial port of a PC with a
null modem cable. When the switch is set to DTE, the Console port acts
as a data terminal equipment (DTE) serial port.
Set the switch to DCE when connecting to the serial port of a PC with a
straight-through cable. When the switch is set to DCE, the Console port
acts as a data communications equipment (DCE) serial port.
Connector
The Console port uses an RJ-45 connector that enables a connection to a
terminal for performing switch monitoring and configuration operations.
The terminal may be a PC or workstation that is running terminal emulation
software (DCE), or a terminal configured as a Data Terminal Equipment
(DTE) connection. A null-modem wired serial cable is supplied with the
router for connecting to this interface.
Connector
RJ-45 Optical Extension Shelf (OES) Ethernet port. The OES Ethernet port
is reserved for future use.
