Preparations
In order to ensure safe and efficient processing of mail pieces in the stack, you should
prepare the outgoing mail, sort out and remove unsuitable mail pieces. This and fur-
ther preparatory work is briefly described in the following.
Sorting
Sorting outgoing mail
• Sort out and remove mail pieces that
– are unsuitable for batch processing (e.g.
catalogues)
– are unsuitable for automatic sealing (e.g.
thicker than 7 mm / 0.3").
• Sort out and remove mail pieces with
extreme requirements with removal from
the stack. Examples:
– Mail pieces with sensitive surfaces
– Mail pieces for processing with specially
aligned settings for removal and feeding.
• Outgoing mail is divided into:
– Moisten / seal envelopes
– Non seal.
• Sort by products (e.g. postcard, letter,
international letter).
• Pre-sort by format (DL, C5, etc.).
• If necessary, sort according to further user-
specific criteria. These may be e.g.:
– Cost account
– Advertising imprints
– Pre-dating.
