11. Diode
S Remove the diode from the coupler.
S Connect the pocket tester (Ω
diode terminals as shown.
S Check the diode for continuity as follows.
Tester positive probe !
blue/white
Tester negative probe !
blue/yellow
Tester positive probe !
blue/yellow
Tester negative probe !
blue/white
NOTE:
When you switch the tester's positive and
negative probes, the readings in the above
chart will be reversed.
S Are the tester readings correct?
YES

12. Clutch switch
S Check the clutch switch for continuity.
Refer to "CHECKING THE SWITCHES".
S Is the clutch switch OK?
YES

13. Start switch
S Check the start switch for continuity.

S Check the entire starting system's wiring.
Refer to "CIRCUIT DIAGRAM".
S Is the starting system's wiring properly con-
nected and without defects?
YES
15. Decompression solenoid (thermistor)
S Check the decompression solenoid for conti-
nuity.
Refer to "SELF-DIAGNOSIS".
S Is the decompression solenoid OK?
YES
Replace the ignitor
unit.
