CRANKSHAFT AND CONNECTING RODS
2. Lubricate:
S crankshaft pins
S big end bearings
S connecting rod inner surface
(with the recommended lubricant)
Recommended lubricant
Engine oil
3. Install:
S big end bearings
S connecting rods
S connecting rod caps
(onto the crankshaft pins)
NOTE:
S Align the projections a on the big end bear-
ings with the notches b in the connecting rods
and connecting rod caps.
S Be sure to reinstall each big end bearing in its
original place.
S Make sure the projection c on the connecting
rods face towards the left side of the crank-
shaft.
S Make sure the characters d on both the con-
necting rod and connecting rod cap are
aligned.
4. Tighten:
connecting rod bolt 1
CAUTION:
S When tightening the connecting rod bolts,
be sure to use an F-type torque wrench.
S Without pausing, tighten the connecting
rod bolts to the specified torque. Apply
continuous
torque
4.0 mSkg. Once you reach 3.3 mSkg, DO
NOT STOP TIGHTENING until the specified
torque is reached. If the tightening is inter-
rupted between 3.3 and 4.0 mSkg, loosen
the connecting rod bolts to less than
3.3 mSkg and start again.
