SERVICE PROCEDURES (Continued)
Corporation recommends a Mopar or equivalent oil
filter be used.
OIL FILTER REMOVAL
(1) Position a drain pan under the oil filter.
(2) Using a suitable oil filter wrench loosen filter.
(3) Rotate the oil filter counterclockwise to remove
it from the cylinder block oil filter boss or filter
adapter housing (Fig. 42).

(4) When filter separates from adapter nipple, tip
gasket end upward to minimize oil spill. Remove fil-
ter from vehicle.
(5) Make sure old gasket comes off with oil filter.
With a wiping cloth, clean the gasket sealing surface
(Fig. 43) of oil and grime.
OIL FILTER INSTALLATION
(1) Lightly lubricate oil filter gasket with engine
oil or chassis grease.
(2) Thread filter onto adapter nipple. When gasket
makes contact with sealing surface, (Fig. 43) hand
tighten filter one full turn, do not over tighten.
(3) Add oil, verify crankcase oil level and start
engine. Inspect for oil leaks.
USED ENGINE OIL DISPOSAL
Care should be exercised when disposing used
engine oil after it has been drained from a vehicle
engine. Refer to the WARNING at beginning of this
section.

REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

ENGINE MOUNTS—FRONT
The front mounts support the engine at each side.
These supports are made of resilient rubber.
REMOVAL
(1) Disconnect negative cable from battery.
(2) Raise the vehicle.
(3) Support the engine.
(4) Remove the nut from the through bolt (Fig. 44).
DO NOT remove the through bolt.
(5) Remove the retaining bolts and nuts from the
support cushions (Fig. 44).
(6) Remove the through bolt.
(7) Remove the support cushions.
INSTALLATION
(1) If the engine support bracket was removed,
position the bracket onto the block and install the
attaching bolts (Fig. 44). Tighten the engine support
bracket bolts to 61 N·m (45 ft. lbs.) torque.
(2) If the support cushion bracket was removed,
position the bracket onto the lower front sill (Fig.
45). Install support cushion bracket bolts and nuts.
Tighten the bolts to 54 N·m (40 ft. lbs.) torque.
Tighten the nuts to 41 N·m (30 ft. lbs.) torque.
(3) Place the support cushion into position on the
support cushion bracket (Fig. 44). Install and tighten
the bolts and nuts to 41 N·m (30 ft. lbs.) torque.
(4) Install the through bolt and the retaining nut
(Fig. 44). Tighten the through bolt nut to 65 N·m (48
ft. lbs.) torque.
