3.2 Motherboard

Describes problems that may occur on the motherboard and their troubleshooting.

3.2.1 Motherboard does not Operate

The procedure for resolving the problem that occurs when the motherboard does not
operate is as follows:
Mount the target board on
another slot and operate it.
Does the board
operate on the slot?
Yes
Does each slot
1~2 group operate normally?
Yes
Are 4.096 MHz,
CLKX, and FSX clock signals
normal?
Yes
Check ADDRESS,
DATA BUS, RD, WR.
If ADDRESS and DATA BUS are
abnormal, check which path causes
the error up to MP10/11 board.
End

Move to troubleshooting sction
of corresponding board .
- Check if CDRST, EN, INTS,

and INTD signals are normal.
- Check the 30 pin connector
connection status.

Check the 4 MHz and FOI signals
sent from MCP board.
Check the 4.096 MHz,
CLKX, and FSX signals
generated from U21(STL9604).
Are the clock signals normal?
Yes
- Check signals in buffers of
MP10/11 board(U19).
- If buffer input is abnormal, check
from U2 to buffer.
- If buffer output is abnormal,
replace the buffer.
