– Complex PCL Printing
If your printer regularly receives complex PCL print jobs, try setting the
printer's System Default/Startup Options/Optimize PDL setting to For
PCL. You can make this change at the printer's control panel or from
the Memory Client Optimizations/Emulations setting on the
Configuration/Startup Options & Resets page of PageScope Light
(Emulation parameter).
Many PCL printing problems are not affected by memory optimiza-
tion settings. Changing the Optimize PDL setting to For PCL has
been found to enhance printer performance in a limited number of
printing situations.
– Multi-page Color Legal Printing
If the majority of your print jobs are large legal-size documents printed
in color, try setting the printer's System Default/Startup Options/
Optimize Media setting to For Legal. You can make this change at the
printer's control panel or from the Memory Client Optimizations/Media
Size setting on the Configuration/Startup Options & Resets page of
PageScope Light (Media Size parameter).
– Miscellaneous Printing Situations
If you have large, complex print jobs (such as multi-page PowerPoint
presentations) that degrade your printer's performance, try increasing
your printer's memory to 384 MB.
190—Chapter 5.1
You may experience improved printer performance by
upgrading to 256 MB; however, upgrading to 384 MB reduces
the chances that an even more complex print job would
hamper your printer's performance.
