Check the message and respond to it.
The countermeasures to be taken vary depending on the displayed message.
When the message is "Fatal Error happened. Please call support engineer."
Do not start up the system and contact an office listed in the "Contact Information" of "Start
Guide".
When the message is "OK. You can boot system. Please check HDD status after
boot."
The hard disk unit has a failure or it is in the process of rebuilding. Remove the failed hard disk
unit according to the following procedure:
1. Confirm the "Previous Physical Disk States" field and the "Current Physical Disk
States" field displayed on the screen.
The ID, for which "Failed" is displayed for both "Previous Physical Disk States" and
"Current Physical Disk States", is the ID for the failed hard disk unit.
If there is no such ID, skip to procedure 6.
2. Touch a metal part of the server to discharge static electricity.
3. Pull the plastic lever forward 90 degrees, pull out the failed hard disk unit confirmed
in step 4 by only 1 to 3 cm, and disconnect it from the SCSI bus.
Do not pull out the hard disk unit fully from the server.
4. Wait for approximately a minute (until the hard disk unit's motor stops rotating).
5. Pull out the failed hard disk unit from the hard disk bay.
6. Remove the "On Board RAID Utility" floppy disk from the floppy disk drive.
7. Press the [Ctrl]+[Alt]+[Delete] keys and restart the OS.
The following message is displayed once again at the POST. Press the [Ctrl]+[A] key and
close the message.
Warning!: The array is degraded.
[A] to continue after insert Floppy Disk.
If one of the hard disk units fails, the status for the logical drive becomes "Critical" and the drive
is put under non-redundant operation. When you repeat the startup with one hard disk unit
removed, the system pauses with the message every time during the startup.
Install a new hard disk unit in the removed hard disk unit bay and execute "Rebuild" as soon as
possible.
While continuing the operation with one hard disk unit failed, if the second hard disk unit fails, the
system may start up from the first failed hard disk unit depending on the type of hard disk failure. In this
case, the system starts using old data and the latest data can be lost. In order to avoid this problem,
follow the procedures above to check the hard disk status before starting the OS.
