• The Robot test evaluates the basic functionality of the library robotics assembly, including the
picker assembly and the Y-carriage assembly, the barcode scanner, and the calibration sensors.
Time required to complete the Robot test is approximately 5 minutes.
• The Frame test assesses the control and expansion module configuration and alignment.
Time required to complete the Frame test is approximately 3 minutes per module.
• The I/E Station test assesses the configuration and functionality of each I/E station.
Time required to compete the I/E Station test is approximately 3 minutes per I/E station.
• The Drives test performs functional tests on the library tape drives.
Time required to complete the Drives test is approximately 15 minutes per drive.
• The Tour moves a scratch data cartridge through all storage slots in the extreme library locations.
It also scans the topmost and bottommost slots in the library and performs get/put operations, using
non-scratch data cartridges.
Time required to complete the Tour is approximately 5 minutes per module.

Running the IVT

You must configure the library e-mail account using the Web client if you intend

to e-mail the IVT log after running the IVT. To configure the e-mail account,
select Setup > Notifications > E-mail Configuration. For further details, see
the online help or the Dell PowerVault ML6000 Tape Library User's Guide.
1 Log on to the library, using the operator panel, as an administrator or service user.
2 Ensure that no applications are accessing the library.
If a Progress Screen is open, wait until it closes before attempting to run the IVT.
3 Select Tools > Library Tests.
4 Select Installation & Verification Tests, and then select Next.
5 All IVT subtests are preselected by default. Clear the check box next to a subtest name to exclude that
test from this IVT run. Select Apply when you are ready to run the IVT.
6 The Robot, Drives and Tour subtests each require that you to provide a scratch data cartridge before
the test can begin. When you are prompted to do so, place a scratch data cartridge into the top I/E
station slot, and then select Apply. You must import the scratch data cartridge into the system partition.
A subtest will fail if a required resource is missing. A required resource could be a scratch data cartridge
or an empty drive with available matching media type.
The IVT starts by performing an inventory of the library. The inventory is recorded in the IVT log, along
with the test results.
To see the IVT results, select Details on the Library Test Progress screen. If the IVT is still running,
you will only see results for tests that have completed.
To cancel the current IVT run between subtests, select Stop on the Library Test Progress screen, The
last issued commands will complete before library control is returned.
7 Once the selected tests are complete, select Next.
8 You can choose to view the detailed IVT log or e-mail the detailed IVT log. Make your choice and select
Next.
9 Select Close to return to the Tools menu.
