DR062 - Resolve Host Port Failover

This DR provides customer resolution steps for
Problem: The FC I/O blade has detected that its active link has failed, and has switched to a secondary link
on another port.
1
Check to see that the fiber cables connecting the host with the FC I/O blade are intact and properly
connected at both ends.
2
Remove and reinsert the fiber cable on both ends to verify proper insertion.
3
Examine the fiber cable for breaks or cuts.
4
Examine cable ends for breakage or dirt, and reconnect.
5
If the connections look good, go to Setup > I/O Blade > Host Port Failover. Select the FC I/O blade
that reported the problem, based on the FC I/O blade location listed in the ticket details.
6
Check if port connections are still "Offline," indicating a connection failure.
7
If all ports are "Online," check to see if the ports require user intervention.
8
If user intervention is required, select the Enable button to allow the port to be available for future
failovers.
9
Continue to monitor for an intermittent problem in the SAN. After the connection is repaired, the port
goes to a disabled (user intervention required) state.
10 If a port is still failed ("Offline"), check if the SAN hardware or software was reconfigured or rebooted
just prior to the ticket display. The library could have detected that the configuration change interrupted
the connectivity with the library, either permanently or temporarily.
11 Verify that the reconfiguration or reboot was done correctly.
12 If a port is still failed ("Offline"), verify the following host side issues:
a. Verify that the host is operational.
b. Verify that the HBAs are operating correctly.
c. If the host hardware and software seem to operate normally and an intermediate device such
as a switch or router is installed in the SAN, verify that the switch or router is operating correctly.
d. Verify any zoning configurations to make sure the connection is set up properly.
13 If the library continues to report a problem after cable issues and host-side issues have been corrected
and resolved, call Service for further assistance.
14 You have three options:
a. Select Close to close the ticket now.
b. Select Exit to leave the ticket open for future troubleshooting.
c. Select Back to return to the Diagnostic Resolution.
