General note
See
Coolant hoses
Carry out visual inspection of all coolant hoses (1) for damage, leaks,
hardening as a result of heat and porosity.
Water pump
Inspect all connections on the top and bottom of the cylinder head and on
the water pump (2).
Expansion tank
Inspect expansion tank (3) for damage. Inspect protection rubber at the
bottom of the tank for tight fit.
Radiator cap
Inspect the gasket of the radiator cap (4) and check the pressure release
valve and return valve for proper operation.
See chap. 12-20-00 section: 9.4).

Coolant and mixtures of coolant and water have to be treated as
hazardous waste!

To replace the coolant the following steps are necessary:

Always allow engine to cool down to ambient tempera-
ture before start of any work.

Never open the radiator cap when the cooling system
is hot. For safety's sake, cover cap with a rag and open
slowly. Sudden opening of the cap could provoke the
escape of boiling coolant and result in scalding.

Open the radiator cap on the expansion tank.
Remove the bottom attachment screw (1) (with sealing ring) of water pump (2).
