Periodic Maintenance
5.1 A
NTENNA
Notice: Do not run any of the tests described here while the antenna is tracking a satellite pass. The testing
will interfere with any ongoing tracking and data reception. If antenna tracking is in progress, wait until it is
completed before testing the antenna.
The antenna operates unattended under computer control. To verify that the antenna is responding properly
to computer control, enter the following commands. If an error occurs, see Section 7 "Fault Isolation."
1. Test the antenna status by entering:
% ac 1 st <Return>
Note: The status reply should always include the line "Fast Mode". If not, it should be set using
the ^0070 command. See Section 10.2.2.
Sea-going antennas (see section 4.5 on page 81) must have the "Sat Ref Mode" as well, which is set by the
^0071 command.
2. Display the antenna's current position by entering:
% ac 1 pos <Return>
3. Move the antenna azimuth to 120 degrees by entering:
% ac 1 az 120 <Return>
4. Check the position by re-entering:
% ac 1 pos <Return>
until the azimuth position is shown as 120 degrees.
5. Move the antenna azimuth to 290 degrees by entering:
% ac 1 az 290 <Return>
6. Check the position by re-entering:
% ac 1 pos <Return>
until the azimuth position is shown as 290 degrees.
7. Move the dish elevation to 14.5 degrees by entering:
% ac 1 el 14.5 <Return>
