8.4.35 Azimuth Drive Belts [12574521] and [12574523]; [12574525]

6003L: The azimuth spool drive belt [12574521] connects the reduction stack to the azimuth drive spool. The
azimuth motor drive belt [12574523] connects the azimuth motor to the reduction stack.
6003AL: The belt [12574525] connects the azimuth motor to the azimuth drive spool.
Tools:
3mm (1/8") flat-blade screwdriver
#2 Phillips screwdriver

Procedures:
A. 6003L: Azimuth Spool Drive Belt [12574521]
1. Turn off power to the antenna.
2. Loosen the two screws (item 26 of drawing 70909017, page 50) holding the az pot bracket. Slide the
bracket towards the reduction stack.
3. Unhook the azimuth pot drive belt from the reduction stack and put aside.
4. Remove the four screws (item 31 of drawing 70909017, page 50) holding the az motor train to the
azimuth post.
5. Tip the motor train and unhook the azimuth spool drive belt.
6. Above the drive belt on the azimuth spool are the two braided cables and the RF coax cable (see
Figure 8-16B). Cut the tie-wraps from the outlet of the spool up to the braid or coax connector.
7. Loop the azimuth spool drive belt over these loose wires and remove the old belt.
8. Hook the new azimuth spool belt over the loose wires and seat it on the azimuth spool sprocket.
9. Reattach the three wires to their respective connectors and tie-wrap the cable bundles back together
again.
10. Hook the azimuth spool drive belt over the reduction stack on the az motor train.
11. Tighten the four screws holding the az motor train to the azimuth post.
