8.4.2 Axis Drive Motors [12574501] [12574505] [12574506] [12574507]

The positioner is equipped with three drive motors—one for each axis (azimuth, elevation, cross-level). The
basic motor does not have mounting brackets or drive sprockets attached.
The following motor is used for all three axes in antenna model 6003L (servo separate from PCU):
[12574501]
Used for azimuth, elevation, or cross-level axes.
The following motors are used in antenna model 6003AL (servo integrated into PCU)

Tools:
127mm (5") diagonal cutters
3mm (1/8") flat-blade screwdriver
#2 Phillips screwdriver
hex wrench kit
100mm (4") crescent wrench
Part Location:
1.
The cross-level drive motor is located on the azimuth post assembly (item 3 of drawing 70909010,
page 43). See also drawing 70909005, page 41 and Figure 8-2, page 117.
2.
The elevation drive motor is located on the elevation pan (item 11 of drawing 70909014, page 44). See
also drawing 70909005, page 41 and Figure 8-3, page 118.
3.
6003L: The azimuth drive motor is located on the azimuth train (item 2 of drawing 70909017, page 50).
See also Figure 8-4, page 119.
6003AL: The azimuth motor is located next to the cable spool (item 12 of drawing 70909049, page 47).
Procedure:
A. Cross-Level Drive Motor (Figure 8-2, page 117)
1.
Turn off power to the antenna.
2.
Remove the motor's cable from the servo amplifier/bracket. Unscrew the screw holding the cable
clamp to the cross-level motor bracket.
3.
Cut the tie-wraps holding the motor's cable to the pedestal harness (braided harness).
4.
Remove the four screws on the bracket holding the cross-level drive motor bracket to the azimuth post
(item 23 of drawing 70909010, page 43).
5.
Unhook the cross-level drive belt from the motor sprocket and remove the motor assembly.
6.
Note the orientation of the wire harness coming out of the motor. Remove the four screws holding the
motor to the mounting bracket and separate the old motor.
