8.5.12 Calibration of the Level Platform

This procedure corrects the position of the level platform cage so that it is "level" at zero degrees elevation

and levels the cage in the cross-level direction.

This procedure adjusts the N4--- and N5--- values. If a finer correction is desired, manually enter the

corrections. See section 8.5.10, page 153 and section 8.5.11, page 155.

Tools:

Bubble Level.

Part Location:

The level platform is located on the right side of the cross-level beam for elevation adjustment. See

drawing 70909012, page 45, and Figure 8-7B, page 125.

Procedure:

Place the bubble level on the top of the level platform cage pointing toward the dish.

The following commands are entered at the computer to tip the level platform up or down until the

bubble reads level for elevation correction.

Note:

The antenna must not be in use for tracking a satellite.

To adjust the elevation, enter one or more of the following commands (^0002 or ^0008) until the bubble

shows level on the level cage

^0002 <Return>{Level cage rotates counterclockwise (away from the dish) 0.4833°}

^0008 <Return>{Level cage rotates clockwise (towards the dish) 0.4833°}

To adjust the cross-level beam:

Turn the bubble level 90° on the cage to point to the cross-level beam.

b. Enter one or more of the following commands (^0004 or ^0006) until the bubble shows level.

^0004 <Return> {cross-level beam rotates 0.4833° counterclockwise}

^0006 <Return> {cross-level beam rotates 0.4833° clockwise}

Note:

When the level platform is "level", enter:

NVRAM <Return>{Stores the changes in NVRAM of the PCU}

reset {resets the antenna}

<Return>{Exit ac}
