8.4.5 Level Platform (Level Cage) [12574644][12574544]

Part Location:
The level platform (level cage) is located on the equipment frame (item 10 of drawing 70909005, page 41).

Procedure:
1.
Turn off power to the antenna.
2.
Remove the cable attached to the level platform.
3.
Remove the 5/16 jam nut from the shaft of the level platform.
4.
Loosen the four screws holding the level platform motor (Figure 8-6B, page 125).
5.
Slide the motor towards the level platform.
6.
Unhook the drive belt from the old level platform and slide the old level platform off the shaft. Note
the orientation of the cable connector.
7.
Place the new level platform on the shaft. Its range of motion should be suitable for the platform.
8.
Engage the drive belt on the sprocket of the level platform.
9.
Replace the washer and 5/16 -18 jam nut on the shaft (0.127mm/0.245mm (0.005"/0.010") play).
10. Push the motor away from the level platform to tighten the drive belt and tighten the screws holding
the motor bracket to the equipment frame.
11. Check the belt tension and repeat step 10 until proper tension is achieved.

12. Reattach the cable to the level platform and tighten the hold-down screws.
13. Turn on power to the antenna.
14. Perform the calibration of the level platform (see section 8.5.12, page 156).
Diagnostics After Completing Repair:
1.
The level platform should rotate counterclockwise on startup and then return clockwise to a
level position (level position is shown in Figure_8-6B, page 125).
2.
Perform the tests of section 5.1, page 83, and observe correct operation of the antenna.
