8.6.3 Stand-alone GPS Antenna [70347001]

Part Location:
The GPS antenna is attached to the radome bottom with double-sided VHB adhesive tape (see Figure 8-23,
page 160).
Procedure:
1.
Turn off power to the antenna.
2.
Detach the SMB connector of the GPS antenna cable from the GPS receiver.
3.
Cut any tie-wraps holding the GPS antenna cable to the radome.
4.
Pry the GPS antenna from the radome bottom.
5.
Clean off any adhesive still attached to the radome.
6.
Place new VHB adhesive on the bottom of the new GPS antenna (flat side of the GPS antenna). Trim
the adhesive to fit.
7.
Position the new GPS antenna where the old antenna was and press it to the radome.
8.
Tie-wrap the cable as needed.
9.
Attach the SMB connector of the GPS antenna cable to the GPS receiver.
10. Turn on power to the antenna.
Diagnostics after Completing Repair:
1.
Run whereami and sunclock.
It may take up to 15 minutes to receive the GPS satellite ephemeris before the location and time correction
are shown.
