8.4.20 L/S Feed/LNA/ Downconverter [12218xxx]

The integrated L- or L/S-band Feed/LNA/Downconverter converts the RF signal to an IF signal of 137.5 MHz
that can be sent to the inside equipment without significant loss.

#2 Phillips screwdriver
hex wrench: kit
3m (10 ft) long rope, 6mm (1/8") or more thick
Part Location:
The integrated L- or L/S-band Feed/LNA/Downconverter is mounted at the dish focal point on the feed
mounting plate. See drawing 70909004, page 27, and Figure 8-14, page 137.
Procedure:
1.
Turn off power to the antenna.
2.
Point the dish at 0
keep it from tipping up when the Downconverter is removed.
3.
Remove all cable connectors from the feed.
4.
Remove the eight screws holding the feed to the struts.
5.
Place the new feed on the feed struts in the same orientation as the old feed.
6.
Reattach the feed to the feed struts.
7.
Reattach the cable(s) to the feed.
8.
Release the rope holding the dish.
9.
Rebalance the antenna dish if needed (see section 8.5.1, page 152).
10. Turn on power to the antenna.
Diagnostics After Completing Repair:
1.
Perform the tests of section 5.1, page 83, and observe the correct operation of the antenna.
2.
Run the sunalign command and verify that the antenna is tracking the sun properly.
3.
Track a pass and verify that the antenna is tracking properly and data is received.
