Setting Up and Testing the RS-232 Interface

You may need to set up and test the RS-232 interface. RS-232 is an
8-bit serial communications standard that lets the oscilloscope
communicate with an external RS-232 device such as a computer,
terminal, or printer. The standard defines two device types: Data
Terminal Equipment (DTE) and Data Communications Equipment
(DCE). The oscilloscope is a DTE device.
The RS-232 Connector Pinout Diagram on page 6- - 12 shows the pin
numbers and signal assignments of the 9-pin RS-232 connector.
