Photo Conductor cleaning mechanism

A. Main Erase operation
1. The Cleaning Blade is pressed up against the surface of the Photo Conductor,
scraping residual toner off the surface.
2. The surface of the Photo Conductor after the image transfer process is irradiated
with light from the Main Erase Lamp. This neutralizes any potential left on the sur-
face of the Photo Conductor.
B. Photo Conductor backward rotation control
• To eliminate any areas on the surface of the Photo Conductor that are left uncleaned by
the Cleaning Blade, the Photo Conductor is rotated backward at predetermined intervals.
• The IU Motor is energized to rotate backward each time the period of time through which
the IU is run exceeds a predetermined value. Toner, paper dust, and other foreign matter
collecting at the Cleaning Blade are recovered by the Toner Conveying Roller.
