5. Operation
B. Operations in 2-sided printing with two sheets of paper resident in the system
Operation 1
• The first sheet of paper is taken up and fed in from the
main unit drawer and the main unit starts the first print
cycle to produce the print image of the second page of
the original.
Operation 2
• The 1-sided print is transported to the Switchback Unit.
• Immediately before the 1-sided print is fed out by the
Exit Roller of the Switchback Unit, the direction of rota-
tion of the Exit Roller is reversed and the 1-sided print is
transported toward and into the Duplex Unit.
• At the same time that the 1-sided print is transported,
the second sheet of paper is taken up and fed into the
main unit.
Operation 3
• The main unit carries out the first print cycle for the sec-
ond sheet of paper to produce the print image of the
fourth page of the original.
• At the same time, the first 1-sided print is transported
through the Duplex Unit.
Operation 4
• The main unit produces the print image of the first page
of the original on the first 1-sided print.
• At the same time that the image of the first page of the
original is printed, the third sheet of paper is taken up
and fed into the main unit.
• The second 1-sided print is transported toward and into
the Duplex Unit.
Operation 5
• While feeding the first 2-sided print out, main unit pro-
duces the print image of the 6th page of the original on
the third sheet of paper.
• The second 1-sided print remains in the standby state
before the Duplex Unit Transport Roller until the next
paper motion is carried out.
