From SDRAM or Expanded Memory Unit
1. The CCD Sensor converts the light reflected off the original to a corresponding
electrical signal.
The analog signal output from the CCD consists of two signals, one representing
the even-numbered pixel side and the other representing the odd-numbered pixel
side.
2. The two analog image signals generated by the CCD are synthesized and con-
verted to 8-bit digital signals.
3. The following image processing is performed at this step: shading correction (varia-
tions in light distribution that varies along the entire length of the Exposure Lamp
and in sensitivity of each CCD chip are corrected), gamma (g) correction (process-
ing performed to match CCD sensitivity characteristics with printer sensitivity char-
acteristics), zoom, MTF correction (correction of resolution), and ABC processing
(removing the background color of the original).
4. The corrected image data is converted to binary image data through error diffusion
processing.
5. The areas outside the original and center portion of an open book are erased.
6. Image data is compressed for efficient use of memory.
7. Data undergoes file management before being stored in the SDRAM on the MFB3
Board or on optional memory.
