4-1. How to install the needle

turn oFF the power before starting the work so as to prevent accidents caused by abrupt start of the
sewing machine

Use a SCHMETZ 34 SERV 7 Nm : 30 needle
) Turn handwheel 1 to lft needle bar 2 to ts hgh-
est poston.
2) Loosen needle setscrew 3 and turn needle 4 so
that ts ndentaton A s on the handwheel sde.
3) Push the needle deeply nto the hole n the needle
bar, n the drecton of the arrow, untl t hts the sur-
face at the far end of the hole.
4) Tghten the needle setscrew very tghtly.
5) Check to make sure that long groove B of the nee-
dle s on the face plate sde.
