Powering Off a T640 Router

NOTE: If the system is completely powered off when you power on the power
supply, the Routing Engine boots as the power supply completes its startup
sequence. If the Routing Engine finishes booting, you must power off the
router before powering it on again. After powering on a power supply, wait
at least 60 seconds before turning it off. After powering off a power supply,
wait at least 60 seconds before turning it back on.

To power off a T640 router:
On the external management device connected to the Routing Engine, issue the

shuts down both Routing Engines cleanly, so their state information is preserved. (If
the router contains only one Routing Engine, issue the
user@host> request system halt both-routing-engines
