MAINTENANCE
SPARK
PLUG
REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
Front
cylinder:
Remove the following:
-
horn (page
20-23)
-
radiators (without disconnecting
the
hoses) (page
g_
7)
Move
the
radiators
fonryard
and
secure
them
with
straps. Cover
the
radiator
fins
to
prevent
damaging
them.
Disconnect
the direct ignition coil
3p
(Black) connector
t1l
Remove
the
bolt [2], clamp
[3]
(No.
4;
right only),
and
direct ignition coil
[4].
Rear
cylinder:
Remove the fuel
tank
(page
7-'1
1).
Disconnect
the direct
ignition
coil
3p
(Black)
connector
t1l
Remove
the
bott
[2],
ctamp
[3] (No. 1; left
onty),
and
direct ignition coil [4] from
the
spark
plug.
Clean around the
spark
plug
base
with compressed
air
before removing the
plug,
and be sure
that no debris is
allowed to
enter
into
the combustion
chamber.
Remove the spark plug
[1]
lnstall
and
hand tighten
the
spark plug
to the
cylinder
head.
then tighten
the spark plug
to the
specified
torque.
TORQUE: 16
N'm
(1.6
kgf'm,
12
tbf'ft)
lnstall
the
removed
parts
is in the
reverse order
of
removal.
The spark
plug
is
equipped with an
iridium
center
electrode. Da not
clean the
electrodes.
Always
use
the
specified
spark
plugs.
INSPECTION
Check
the
insulator [1]
for
cracks
or
damage and
the
center
and
side electrodes
[2y[3] for
wear, fouling, or
discoloration.
Replace
the
plug if necessary.
Replace
the plug if the center electrode
is
rounded
[4]
as shown.
