CLUTCH/STARTER CLUTCH
SERVICE INFORMATION
GENERAL
NOTICE
Spilled
clutch (brake) fluid will severely damage instrument /enses and
painted sudaces.
/f
is a/so harmful to some rubber
parts.
Be
careful whenever
you remove the reservoir cap; make sure the front reservoir is horizontal first.

This section covers service of the
clutch, primary drive gear. and starterclutch.
All service can be
donewith the engine installed
in
the frame.

Brake
fluid is
used
for the
hydraulic
clutch and is referred to as clutch fluid. Always use fresh DOT

brake
fluid from a
sealed
container when servicing the system. Do not mix
diflerent types of fluid, they may not be compatible.

Never allow contaminates (dirt,
water, etc.)to
get
into an
open
reservoir.
.
Once the
hydraulic system has been opened, the system must be
bled.
.
Engine
oil viscosity and level have an
effect
on
clutch
disengagement. When the clutch does not disengage or the motorcycle
creeps with clutch
disengaged, inspect the engine oil level before servicing the clutch system.
