LUBRICATION SYSTEM
SERVICE INFORMATION
GENERAL
This section covers service
of
the
oil pump and oil cooler.
The
oil
pump
can
be serviced with the engine installed
in
the frame.
The service procedures
in
this section must be performed with the engine oil drained.
When
removing
and
installing the
oil
pump, use care not to allow
dusior
dirt to enter the engine.
The
oil
pump has
twin
pump rotors; feed and cooler. The
feed
pump rotors draw
oil
frori
the
oil
cooler and crankcase
and
delivers
it
under pressure to
the
bearings and other important parts bt the engine. The cooler pump rotors draw oil from
the
crankcase and
sends
it
to the oil cooler.
After the
oil
pump has
been
installed, check that
there
are no oil leaks and that
oil
pressure is correct.
For engine
oil
pressure
indicator/EOp
switch inspection
(page
20_17).
TOOLS
Used engine oil may cause skin cancer
if
repeatedly left
in
contact with the skin for prolonged periods. Although
this
is unlikely

daily
basis, it
is
stili advisable to thoroughty wash your hands with soap and water as soon as
possible
after
handling used
oil.
