Connecting the Embroidery Unit

When embroidering always place your sewing machine and
embroidery unit on a single, flat, and sturdy surface.
Make sure there is enough space around your machine as the
embroidery arm and hoop will move and take up a lot of
room. When embroidering using the larger hoops a space of
at least 17" (45 cm") is recommended behind the sewing
machine.
1. Slide the accessory tray off.
Push to open the embroidery unit connector.
2. Place your hands in the grips on the embroidery unit and
carefully lift it in place onto the connector. There is a
marking at the base plate and at the bottom of the
embroidery unit, those markings should align.
3. The two pins (A) and the two plugs (B) at the underside
of the embroidery unit should match the corresponding
holes (A) and sockets (B) in the embroidery unit
connector.
Once connected, there should be a narrow gap, approx.
1/4" (6mm) between the sewing machine base plate and
the embroidery unit.
Note: When embroidering, always use the embroidery unit
extension for better stability. When using the larger hoops, also
attach the large hoop support to the front and back of the
embroidery unit extension. Learn more: Using the Embroidery
Unit Extension and Large Hoop Support, page 51.
4. If the machine is turned off, turn it on.
When the embroidery unit is attached, the machine needs
to calibrate. If you were already in embroidery mode or
when you switch to embroidery mode, a pop-up message
tells you to clear the machine area and remove the hoop
before calibration. Touch OK. The machine will calibrate
and the embroidery arm will move to the ready position.
Note: DO NOT calibrate the machine with the embroidery hoop
attached as this can damage the needle, presser foot, hoop and/or
the embroidery unit. Be sure to clear all materials from around the
machine before calibrating so that the embroidery arm does not
bump into anything while calibrating.
