Setting the WEP Keys

The WEP keys, such as Enable WEP Encryption, prevent eavesdropping on your
wireless LAN. To enable the WEP keys:
Note: When you return to the WEP tab after making your changes, the keys
entered are displayed as asterisks (*). Remember the keys you entered before
you click OK.
From the WEP tab, click inside the first WEP key field.

Enter alphanumeric characters.

Characters are limited to: Aa, Bb, Cc, Ee, Ff, and all numbers (hexadecimal).
Once the five fields are filled, check the radio-button Key (Key 0, Key 1,

Key 2, or Key 3) to activate the key.
WEP keys activated for an access point do not need to be set to the same key
number as another user's active WEP key. However, active keys for all users
must have identical strings (for example, Key 0 must match the other Key 0).

WEP Tab Items
Description
Check this check box to Enable the Shared Keys. This allows
another user to connect to your network, but only if the user's WEP
key match the WEP keys designated for your access point.
Check this check box to enable WEP encryption. This provides an
encryption scheme that improves the security of your wireless LAN.
This is transparent to data transfers. The enabling WEP encryption
can only be between the BayStack PC card and the BayStack
Access Point.
