Using the BayStack 660 Wireless LAN Access Point

Creating a Site Survey

To create a Site Survey:
From the Windows taskbar, choose Start > Programs > Bay Networks >
1.
BayStack 650 - BayStack 660 Utilities > Site Survey.
A list is displayed of all the access points the BayStack PC card has access to
in the SSID (network) for which it is configured, providing there is more than
one access point in that SSID.
Choose File > New.
2.
Click in the Survey Location box or press [Alt]+L.
3.
Type the name of the first location in your survey.
4.
Click Next or press [Alt]+N to add the location to the list.
5.
When you press [Alt]+N, the cursor stays in Survey Location, ready for the
next location's entry. Click Save to save the survey (when all locations are
added).
Click one of the locations on the list.
6.
Press [Enter] or press [Alt]+R to choose the Record button and check the
7.
link quality.
A dialog box opens and the link is sampled once a second for ten seconds.
Click OK when the sampling is complete to record the link quality. There is a
blank item at the end of the list for new measurements. Choose the last item,
then click on Record to add a new measurement to the list. Click Cancel to
stop sampling (the average link quality is not added to the list).
Press [Enter] to accept the measurement when it is done.
8.
The link quality and registered access point are saved in the list.
Press [Alt] +N to go to the next location.
9.
Enter notes in the Survey Notes box if you want to record some details
10.
about your setup for the survey.
Choose File > Save to save your survey.
11.
Move the BayStack access point to the next BSA, and repeat step 2
12.
through step 9 for each test location until your survey of that BSA is
finished.
