xDrive
Principle
xDrive is the all-wheel drive system of the ve-
hicle. Concerted action by the xDrive and and
other suspension control systems, for exam-
ple, Dynamic Stability Control, further optimi-
ses traction and driving dynamics.
General
xDrive distributes the driving power variably to
the front and rear axles according to the driv-
ing situation and road condition.
Efficient4x4 reduces consumption by deploy-
ing all-wheel drive as required.
M Sport differential
The active M differential steplessly locks the
rear axle differential according to the driv-
ing situation. This prevents an individual rear
wheel from spinning, thus providing optimum
traction in all driving situations.
It is the driver's responsibility to adopt a driving
style that is appropriate to the situation.
Variable sport steering
The variable sport steering facilitates direct
and agile drivability with less steering effort.
