• COMMUTATOR
Check the commutator (insulator) for damage, dust, dirt or
metal particles.
If there is stain, any irregularities and/or evidence of burning,
clean with an emery paper #500 or #600.
• MICA DEPTH
Measure the mica depth. If the measurement is less than the
service limit, replace the armature.
Service limit 0.2 mm (0.08 in)
• ARMATURE
Check the armature and the spline for wear or damage.
Replace the armature if necessary.
• ARMATURE SHORT-CIRCUIT TEST
Place the armature on the V-block and hold the hacksaw blade
close to the armature core.
Turn the armature to check for short-circuit.
If the blade is attracted to the core or if it vibrates when the
core turns, replace the armature.
