18) Remove the crankshaft from the cylinder block with care
not to damage the journal.

19) Remove the 56 x 70 x 8 mm oil seal from the crankshaft.
Replace the oil seal with a new one on reassembly.

20) Remove the two thrust washers from the cylinder block.
Check the thrust washers for damage (scores, scratches,

etc.) and replace them with the new ones if necessary.

21) Check each main bearing for damage (scores, scratches,
etc.) and replace it with a new one if necessary.

22) Remove the four main bearings from the cylinder block.

• Store the removed main bearings separately by the
journal.

23) Remove the piston assembly from the cylinder by pushing

the piston assembly with the handle of a hammer as
shown.

• Store the removed piston assembly components

separately by the cylinder.
NOTICE

• Before removing the piston assembly, remove the carbon
deposits from the cylinder. Be careful not to damage the
17
piston.
• Do not damage the cylinder with the connecting rod.

24) Check the 10 x 12 mm dowel pins for deformation and
damage, and replace them with the new ones if necessary.
20
25) Remove the eight 10 x 12 mm dowel pins from the cylinder
block.
Replace the dowel pins with the new ones on reassembly.
