The File System
Storage locations for accounting, logs, index file (ndx, sdx, et.al.)
and images on 7210 SAS-T and 7210 SAS-R6 devices
The software sets the default location for accounting records, logs, and others to point to cf1:\.
Note: It is highly recommended not to store frequently written objects such as accounting records,
system logs, and others on cf1 (internal flash), as it is non-replaceable. The cf1 (internal flash)
must be used to store only systems images, configuration files, persistence database, nvsys.info,
and QoS SAP resource map (the sdx file). Use the cf2:\ (external flash) or uf1:\ for storing the
frequently written objects.
The following is a brief explanation of storage locations on 7210 SAS-T and 7210 SAS-R6
devices.

The list of USB devices and the capacities that is supported for use with 7210 SAS are
listed in the 7210 SAS OS Software Release Notes.
When an USB device is unplugged or removed from the system a major alarm is raised.
The alarm can be cleared using the shutdown command.
7210 SAS also autodetects the device type when any of the supported devices are
connected to the USB interface. Only approved USB mass storage device and optical clip-
on devices can be plugged in to the USB port and are recognized as valid devices. All
other unsupported devices will result in an error log being printed.
It is highly recommended to use the "shutdown" command before removing the USB
storage device.
The default location for accounting records and logs is set to cf1:\ in 7210 SAS-T and
7210 SAS-R6. It can be changed by the user to be either cf2 or uf1.
7210 SAS-T ships with the boot.time and the BOF in cf1:\. It is recommended to keep
these files in the same locations.
7210 SAS-R6 ships with the boot.tim and starter BOF on cf2:\. User can choose to copy
these files to the internal flash cf1:\, if need be.
The boot.tim and BOF can be on cf1:\ or cf2:\ or uf1:\. The BOF.cfg is stored in the same
location as the location of the bootloader (boot.tim) used to boot the system. For example
- If the bootloader (boot.tim) placed on cf2: was used to boot the system, then the BOF file
created during auto-init or manual intervention during first-time boot, will be created on
cf2: and used subsequently.
Timos images (both.tim) can be located on either cf1: or cf2: or uf1:, with appropriate
configuration of the BOF file (that is, primary, secondary, and tertiary locations pointing
to the appropriate place).
The ndx and sdx files are generated at the location specified in the BOF parameter of the
configuration file. If the user does not specify the location in the BOF file, then these files
