4. INSTALLATION
3) When installing the servo motor horizontally, face the power cable and encoder cable downward.
When installing the servo motor vertically or obliquely, provide a trap for the cable.
4) Do not use the servo motor with its cable soaked in oil or water. (Figure on the right)

5) When the servo motor is to be installed with the shaft end at top, provide measures to prevent oil
from entering the servo motor from the gear box, etc.

(6) Installation orientation
The servo motor may be installed in any orientation. When the servo motor with electromagnetic
brake is installed with the shaft end at top, the brake plate may generate sliding sound but it is not a
fault. Refer to Section 10.3 for the installation orientation of the servo motor with reduction gear.
